Roman Czura, composer, born 1989 in Darmstadt, studied composition among others with Cord Meijering (Darmstadt), Anna Zawadzka-Gołosz (Kraków), Juris Karlsons (Rīga) and Eugeniusz Knapik (Katowice). After graduating with the highest marks from the Karol Szymanowski Music Academy in Katowice he obtained in 2019 a PhD at his Alma mater, where he also teaches score reading and instrumentation. His main interest is in major, symphonic works. Since 2015 he became deeper involved with the guitar, working in close contact with Polish guitarist Marcin Maślak. Major compositions include …on the riverside, ner neshama for orchestra, premièred at the Royal Wawel Castle, Concierto ardiente for guitar and orchestra, Do prostego człowieka for soprano and orchestra, Ptasie Radio (Bird Radio) for choir à capella. The Piano Concerto »Kraftfelder« and the monumental Symphony No. 2 »Wie ein Naturlaut« were premiered by the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra, the latter also commissioned by this institution. His music has been awarded several awards at national and international composition competitions.
